Team uniforms and custom apparel FAQs | MRG Hauff

1. What should I send MRG Hauff to get an accurate team apparel quote?

To get an accurate custom team apparel quote from MRG Hauff, send the sport or event, garment type, estimated quantity, sizes, logo or design, decoration locations, delivery location and the date you need the order. Add a budget target if you have one. MRG Hauff (the combined home of Daubys, Dakota Sports, Hauff Sports and Dakota Lettering) will recommend garments and a decoration method, then prepare a quote for your project. Ask that the quote itemize setup, artwork, personalization, shipping and taxes so you can compare it line by line. Start a quote on the Contact Us page.

2. Is there a minimum order for custom shirts, embroidery or DTF transfers?

Minimums depend on the garment and the decoration method, so there is no single number for every order. Small orders are often possible, while screen printing typically becomes more economical as quantities rise. Tell MRG Hauff the design, garment and quantity you have in mind and ask for the minimum and price breaks for that specific job. For a comparison of methods, see MRG Hauff's guide to screen printing versus embroidery

3. Can I bring my own shirts, jackets or hats for MRG Hauff to decorate?

The easy answer is yes.  However, it's best if you contact us before you buy the garments. The team will check the fabric, construction and decoration area to see whether the items are suitable for screen printing or embroidery, then explain pricing and the policy for customer-supplied items. Checking first helps avoid buying garments that do not decorate well.

4. Can MRG Hauff use our school or team logo if we don't have a production-ready file?

Yes, MRG Hauff's in-house design team can build a design from scratch, recreate artwork from a reference image, or clean up and prepare your existing files for print. Send the best file you have (a PDF or EPS is fastest), your school colors and any brand rules. Schools and organizations should also confirm who is authorized to approve use of the logo, and ask whether art preparation carries a fee. You can also schedule a video chat with the design team through the Contact Us page.

5. Will I see a proof before custom apparel is produced?

Yes. MRG Hauff provides digital proof approvals before production from our art team. Customers also receive an order confirmation email to verify the order was entered correctly and to track status and estimated completion. Check names, numbers, sizes, colors, logo placement and spelling before you approve. Production begins only after your submitted approval.

6. Can we see samples or try on sizes before ordering a whole team's uniforms?

Ask your MRG Hauff representative about samples or a sizing set for the styles you are considering, since availability varies by brand and garment. Checking fit before you submit the final roster is especially helpful when youth and adult sizes are mixed. MRG Hauff serves schools and clubs across South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska, so you can also ask about local fittings through your rep.

7. How long does a custom order take, and when does the clock start?

Turnaround depends on the time of year, product, inventory levels, decoration method and approved artwork. MRG Hauff's business apparel program aims to complete and deliver orders in two weeks or less, and rush orders are available when you share your deadline at the start of your quote request. Team uniform products can take longer, depending on the brand and complexity of the design.  For the fastest turnaround times, having your garments picked out and your design decided on, will help move things along faster.  See MRG Hauff's guide to rush screen printing with design support.

8. Can I order one replacement jersey for a new player or a damaged uniform?

Often yes, but it depends on the original uniform brand and design. Send MRG Hauff the original order number or a photo, the player's size and the required name or number. The team will check the closest match, the minimum and the delivery time. Mid-season roster add-ons are a common request for club teams across the Upper Midwest, so mention it early.

9. Can I add a player, change a number or correct a size after approving the order?

Contact MRG Hauff immediately with your order number and the requested change. The team will check the order's production status and tell you what can still be changed, along with any effect on price or delivery. Changes are easiest before production begins, so review your proof carefully first.

10. What if I miss the deadline for a school or team store?

Contact MRG Hauff with the store name and the item you wanted. The team will tell you whether the store can be reopened, whether a late order can be added, or when the next ordering window is planned. MRG Hauff builds online stores that run on a seasonal window or stay open year-round, depending on what the organization prefers.

11. Can our school use a purchase order or provide a sales-tax exemption certificate?

Schools and organizations should contact MRG Hauff before ordering to arrange approved payment terms and submit any required tax-exemption documentation. The team will explain which purchases qualify and how to place them. Athletic directors in South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska can raise this when requesting a quote so it is settled before the order is entered.

12. What happens if a custom order arrives with the wrong name, number, size or print?

Send MRG Hauff your order number and photos of the item as soon as you notice the problem. The team will compare it with the approved proof and order details, then explain the correction or replacement options. A production error by MRG Hauff and incorrect information approved by the customer may be handled differently, which is one more reason to check your proof carefully.

13. What is MRG Hauff, and are Daubys, Dakota Sports, Hauff Sports and Dakota Lettering the same company?

MRG Hauff is the combined home of four established Upper Midwest brands: Daubys, Dakota Sports, Hauff Sports and Dakota Lettering. Together they provide team sports gear, custom uniforms, embroidery, screen printing and sublimation for schools, clubs and athletic programs across South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska. Customers who knew any of the four names will find the same regional expertise at MRG Hauff, with products for basketball, football, track, volleyball, soccer, cheer, dance, wrestling and more.

14. Does MRG Hauff build online team stores and fundraising stores for booster clubs?

Yes. MRG Hauff builds custom online stores for booster clubs, school spirit wear, club teams and fundraising groups, so supporters can order directly online. Stores can run on a seasonal window or stay open year-round, and they need very little management from staff. Club stores let parents buy spirit gear alongside required uniforms, which can add a fundraising revenue stream. Many times, we can get your store set up and ready to take orders within a day or two.  See the affordable screen printing guide or start a store through the Contact Us page.

15. Should my team choose screen printing or embroidery?

Choose screen printing for large quantities of shirts, hoodies and team apparel, where it wins on speed and cost per piece. Choose embroidery for polos, jackets and hats, where stitched thread offers durability and a professional look. Many schools, athletic programs and businesses in Sioux Falls, Fargo, Omaha and Des Moines use both. MRG Hauff also offers sublimation and DTF options, and can recommend a method once you share your garment, quantity and design. Read the full guide: Is it better to screen print or embroider?
